A dining room draped in luxury need not be all about timeless aesthetics, plenty of gold and a healthy dose of Victorian style. Even modern dining rooms with their gorgeous wood or stone dining tables, neutral colors that oscillate between black, white and gray and contemporary finishes can seem equally enchanting when done right. A large part of getting this elusive jigsaw right is lighting. Yup, it once again comes down to a sparkling chandelier, a cascading pendant fixture with crystal brilliance or even a custom chandelier that steals the spotlight with ease.
If you want to give the modern dining room a more nature-centric look, then choosing the right décor is as important as the color scheme. A vintage hutch or credenza in the backdrop can give even the most contemporary of dining rooms a traditional touch. Old wooden cabinets that are repainted in white work well in shabby chic settings, while antique furniture can easily fit into dining rooms with a wide variety of themes, ranging from traditional to vintage-modern.
Cathedral-style ceilings, wooden roofs with herringbone pattern and exposed ceiling beams help create a beautiful Mediterranean dining room that is even more enduring. The ceiling plays an important part in Mediterranean spaces and leaving it white only takes away from the grandeur of the spaces. A cozy fireplace (or even faux fireplace) in the corner, some lovely wall murals and a pinch of golden glint put the final touches on a dreamy dining room.
