We already talked about modern bedrooms getting their quota of rustic goodness with a reclaimed wood accent wall. You can take this a step further by expanding the use of wood to other walls of the room as well. A cabin style bedroom with vaulted ceiling, exposed ceiling beams and woodsy walls is uber-cozy while a combination of glass walls and wooden slats merges privacy with perfect ventilation.
As always, we encourage our readers to use color even in small spaces, but in a judicious and pleasing manner. Color in the tiny bedroom can infuse it with cheerful zest and drive away any sense of boredom. Blue and pink are popular colors in the small bedroom and both the colors in their light and pastel forms can be used to create a beautiful and soothing backdrop. An even background clad in a dark, bold color also works at times, provided the rest of the apartment is as neutral as possible. For those with color commitment issues there is always the idea of clever accents that do all they can to brighten a neutral setting.
Metallics in the rustic bedroom have a very different meaning when compared to the use of 'metallics' in contemporary spaces. Here it is the weathered brass handles of the bedroom cabinets and the iron frame of the classic bed that replace more modern polished chrome and copper finishes. Once again, it is the jaded and time-tested finish of these materials that accentuate the rustic vibe of the bedroom in a subtle and elegant manner.
